A comment replying to my Ebola post, an idiot said this.. “Or America has the money and sanitation that Africa doesn’t have and that’s why the two Americans lived”…. Below is a tiny collection of images of the Africa they refuse to show you..
I really am sorry that you have reached this far in life, brainwashed by your media believing that Africa looks like the image below.. I really do sympathize with you,
Stop making Africa the poster child for poverty, poverty is everywhere, and if you ever paid attention, you might notice that it’s closer to home than you think!!!
Okay guys here is why this post is bullshit. Fist of all, those images are… well. The first image isn’t even Africa? There is an American flag, American street signs, and from reverse image searching it, all I can assume is that it’s some kind of stock image for a wealthy neighborhood. Correct me if I’m wrong I really couldn’t source it. Likewise, the second image is in Thailand and the 9th image is In Seoul, South Korea, again both of these are NOT Africa.
The third, fourth, seventh, eighth, eleventh, twelfth, and thirteenth images are Tunisia, South Africa (4th and 7th both), Namibia, Mauritius, Namibia (again), and Seychelles, which all fall in the top 11 for HDI (Human Development Index) for African Countries. These are literally some of the most developed countries Africa has to offer.
The fifth image is Trasacco Valley in Accra, Ghana, which is a luxury neighborhood fully of luxury homes for the richest of people. Accra is also the Capital and Largest City in Ghana. Similarly, the 14th image is Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, and the 10th image is Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. Fun fact: three miles from the middle of Nairobi is Kibera, which is the largest urban slum in Africa and the third largest in the world.
The 6th image is from Equatorial Guinea, which has the highest per capita income of any country in Africa.
All of these images are from the most developed and rich parts of Africa, which, coincidentally, are not where the Ebola outbreaks are taking place.
This is a map released by the CDC of the 2014 Ebola outbreak:
And here are a couple maps to give you an idea of the poverty of this area:
The infant mortality rates in the same area are unbelievably high, with over 150 deaths per 1000 births. To put this in perspective, the United Kingdom has an infant mortality rate of 4.5.
More than half the population in this area make less than $1.25 a day. Most of the countries in the images above are in the <10 and 11-30 categories.
In conclusion: YES, Africa does have developed and rich areas, it’s not all starving children living in dirt huts and shanties. However, the Ebola outbreak IS affecting the poor.
Also, it appears most of the images OP used were pulled from these two articles:

I’m in some financial trouble, so i thought I would offer some painted sketch commissions if anyone’s interested - or if not, if you could reblog this please, that’d be really awesome
They’re Pay What You Want, and will look something like this. (I tend to favour browns, but you can pick your own colour choices) I’ll do simple backgrounds or solid colours
I’m best at anime style, anthro/kemono, and animals. If you want to see more of my work to see if my style works for you, this is my art tag
Thanks for reading!
Did another example with lighter colours, just to show. If you commission me and give me your email or skype I can also send you progress shots bit by bit so you can give me direction/feedback
Thanks everyone who’s reblogged this, means a lot
Hey guys. I feel really bad about it but I recently added a PayPal donation button to the side of the blog. I would really appreciate it even if you only gave a few dollars. I’ve explained why donations would be helpful here. It would mean so much to me and I would be forever in your debt. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Okay things have gotten worse. I’ve started college and the commute is absolutely terrible. Today I sat for 20 minutes trying to get out of a parking lot. I burned through a quarter of a tank of gas in one day. I get $25 a week from my mother for gas, and that buys about a half a tank. That’s two days worth of gas. Due to bills I have no disposable income to buy more gas than that. I need to be able to get to school. Any money donated will go to helping me commute. I really hate to ask but I don’t know what else to do at this point.
